Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality

Building on our active sister state relationship, established in 1989, this agreement advances collaborative research and commercialisation opportunities with Shanghai – China’s leading business and research centre.

The current Memorandum of Understanding which was renewed in January 2022 encompasses:

  • environment protection and sustainable development, including environmental pollution prevention and reduction, renewable energy, the development of cleaner sources of power generation, disaster prevention and recovery, and green metals manufacture
  • human health and medical research, including biomedical, pharmaceutical and modern Chinese medicine technology
  • agriculture and food, including agricultural biotechnology, food safety and supply chain provenance
  • other areas as mutually agreed in specific joint programs, projects, and initiatives.
