Science into Industry Initiative
Science and innovation are critical to Queensland’s future prosperity and delivering better outcomes for our environment, our economy and our people.
The Department of Environment and Science (the department) is working across the research sector, industry and government to grow an innovative and thriving science sector that has the scale, quality, and diversity to deliver real world impact.
The $17 million Science into Industry Initiative aims to make Queensland’s science sector more competitive by accelerating the translation of research and development, supporting universities and research institutes to partner with industry to build new products and services, and increasing Queensland’s share of Australian Government funded industry-science programs. This initiative supports the Queensland Government’s Advance Queensland Innovation for a Future Economy Roadmap 2022–2032.
Science into Industry Co-investment funding has been committed to support:
- ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology
- ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures
- Medical Research Future Fund National Critical Research Infrastructure Initiatives, led by the University of Queensland in partnership with industry, relating to Building the next mRNA vaccines and therapies, and National Infrastructure for federated learning in digital health.
