Queensland’s smart mining, exploration, and extraction industry
The smart mining, exploration and extraction industry combines Queensland’s strengths in the resources and mining equipment, technology and services (METS) sectors, consisting of more than 800 companies, with enhanced digital technologies achieving greater efficiency, safety, productivity and sustainability.
The mining sector makes up the largest share of business expenditure on research and development in Queensland with a concentration of resources-related collaborative research and commercialisation institutes.
Building on this strong record of research-based and industry-led innovation, this visualisation shows the relationships between the state’s leading research centres and innovation hubs and how they support smart mining, exploration, and extraction.
