Trade and science missions to the United States
Successive Queensland Government Ministers and sometimes Queensland Premiers have for over 20 years led trade and science missions to the USA associated with the annual BIO Convention. Working with Life Sciences Queensland and Austrade the delegates aim to:
- identify new opportunities in the market
- encourage emerging technology companies to make Queensland their springboard into the Asia Pacific
- meet with both existing research partners and potential new partners and investors to identify new pathways for collaboration.
Queensland partner in Open Worldwide Innovation Network
The Queensland Government is an executive member of the Open Worldwide Innovation Network (OWIN). This network is a collaboration between leading organizations in major geo-economic hubs. Established by the Texas A&M University in 2013, OWIN is a not-for-profit innovation network that promotes market access, entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation. It was created to provide an exclusive worldwide consortium of services, to expand global innovations and foster entrepreneurship. OWIN is a partnership between Texas A&M Technology Commercialization in College Station, Texas; the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Export Agency (AWEX) in Walloon, Belgium; Coway International TechTrans Co., Ltd (COWAY) in Beijing, China; and Trade and Investment Queensland Australia (TiQ) in Queensland.
