Centre for Bioinnovation
University of the Sunshine Coast
Formerly known as GeneCology Research Centre
The Centre for Bioinnovation brings together an interdisciplinary team of scientists whose research examines the sustainable production of aquaculture, horticulture and forestry systems and biodiversity conservation. Using cutting edge techniques and multi-disciplinary approaches, the Centre leads international efforts to solve key biological challenges. The aquaculture research theme develops and applies of innovative technologies for the enhancement of the aquaculture industry. The Centre's conservation and biodiversity research applies molecular tools to address key global questions. The microbiology research theme examines human and animal major diseases, disease diagnostics, and therapeutics. Biodiscovery research at the centre focuses on drug discovery from natural products and proteins for application in medicine, aquaculture, and conservation.
