The Centre comprises academic researchers from a broad range of humanities and social science fields including history, sociology, media and journalism, literature, archaeology, and linguistics and languages. The Centre aims to deepen understanding of the challenges and issues confronting contemporary society, through the application of innovative humanities and social science research operating at the edge of current knowledge. This is pursued through research themes that bring together teams to examine issues such as global mobility and transnational cultures; crisis, conflict and security; heritage and wellbeing; the rise of citizens’ and social media; citizenship and democracy; diversity and social change; and First Nations’ communities and culture.
