Research Hub for Supercharging Tropical Aquaculture

The ARC Research Hub for Supercharging Tropical Aquaculture aims to enhance productivity, breeding outcomes, and disease resilience in pearls, barramundi, seaweed, and grouper farming. It focuses on three themes: (i) Breeding for Productivity, (ii) Improved Aquatic Animal Health, and (iii) Decoding Production Environments and Microbiomes. Through advanced genetic and genomic frameworks, the hub aims to develop elite genetic lines, enhance disease resistance, and improve product quality. It also focuses on industrial-scale disease challenge trials, diagnostic technologies, and understanding microbiomes' impact on productivity and health. Partnerships with AGRF aim to advance genotyping technologies, while a training program fosters industry-focused genetic research leaders.
