The Rural Economies Centre of Excellence (RECoE) is a first-of-its-kind rural economic research collaboration formed by four Queensland research institutions (University of Sourthern Queensland, University of Queensland, James Cook University, and Central Queensland University) with funding from the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries with the intention to have impact on how regions can survive and thrive into the future. It has five research themes: economic tools and analysis, regional innovation, value chain analysis, policy development; and translation & engagement. RECoe's core research question is - How best can innovation, integration, collaboration and a strategic multidisciplinary approach to industry, community and regional development deliver a thriving and internationally competitive rural economy?
