The Centre for Disaster Studies (CDS)
College of Science and Engineering, James Cook University
The Centre for Disaster Studies is a multi-disciplinary research unit dedicated to the study of the impacts of disaster and the translation of this research into effective policy recommendations, industry standards, and community actions, both national and international. We apply our expertise to a range of hazards—floods, droughts, cyclones, severe wind events, tsunamis, storm surge, sea level rise, bushfires, heat waves, environmental pollutants, and disease outbreaks, among others—and their interconnections.
