Centre for Tropical Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology (CTBMT)
James Cook University
The Centre for Tropical Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology develops innovative solutions for the tropics using high throughput molecular data and cutting-edge bioinformatics. Our research researchs work spans: tropical health; biodiversity; aquaculture; biosecurity; and agriculture. The high throughput molecular data that CTBMB generates to address big questions in tropical biology are analysed using the latest bioinformatic methodologies. The work of centre will lead transformative applications to improve clinical care, food production and environmental management. Our health and disease in the tropics theme aims to better understand a variety of tropical diseasess uch as tuberculosis, dengue from the perspective of both host and parasite. The research into tropical food production theme focuses on tropical aquaculture and agriculture and the industries and communities that utilise them.
