The Max Planck Queensland Centre for Materials Science of Extracellular Matrices provides world leading interdisciplinary basic and applied research programs in the understanding of extracellular matrices (ECMs) focusing on their adaptive multifunctional properties. The centre is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPG) and the Queensland University of Technology. The MPQC research involves soft robotics, responsive and adaptive materials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, as well as cancer research. The centre’s research themes are: Cartilage extracellular matrix; Plant tissues; Bacterial Biofilms; Soft robotics; Human extracellular matrices; Synthetic extracellular matrices; Network architecture and transport properties of extracellular matrices.
